Our Inspiration

During our research into music videos, JLS and the "Hip-Hop" genre itself; we tried to find inspiration as to what we could include into our production. We knew we had to stick to specific conventions as we wasn't going to try and challenge the traditional conventions of hip-hip in any sort of way yet we fell short of inspiration as to what we could include. After hours of research, however, we found an artist and, more specifically, a music video which we believed we could use aspects of which fitted greatly in the genre and our own music video.

 

Kickstarts by Example stood out to us more-so than any other music video in this genre. Before we even looked at the music video, we researched the artist and we found that they are very simular to JLS in the sense that they use the same conventional aspects of the genre to portray their messages/songs. They aren't too dissimular in the sense that "Kickstarts" and "PCD" both feature the love of a women. 

So, what do we like about this video? The inspirtation came from the way the video is showcased. We liked particularly the start of the video where there are different camera shots of a vast amount of feet interchanging between each other (such as the image below). We deciding to use this concept in our own music video however instead of feet, we will have our group members walking down a street lip syncing the song as we interchange between the three members. We believe it will be successful in conveying the genre for a number of reasons - the interchanges will present the audience with a more varied appreciation of our video and they hopefully will be more grasped to our production. We will also be able to change costumes a number of times - this will again help to convey the genre as we can exploit a number of costumes and showcase a vast number of bright, bold costumes that greatly compliment the genre and "JLS" themselves.
