Intertextuality.

What is it?

Intertextuality is one of the key features which distinguish the music video as a form. Intertextual references provide further gratification and pelasure for the viewers/fans as the video would have a piece which relates to film and/or TV texts.

How will you impliment it into your video?

During multiple verses in "JLS - PCD", the group sing the phrase, " All because you're my sugarbabe - that's the girl for me!" We thought it would be appropriate, therefore, to include a scene in our music video where one member of our group rips a picture of the sugarbabes in halve - implying that they don't need a women like that - and instead points at the camera to suggest that the perfect women is essentially the person watching.

What effect will it create?

The intertextual reference, as mentioned, would be the "Sugarbabes". By ripping up a picture of them, this would send gratification to the audience as they're being made aware that being a celebrity isn't an necessity in our contemporary society. The song itself tries to convey the message that money isn't of a great importance, and we believe we showcase this within our intertextual reference.
