Researching The "Gothic" Genre

The word "Gothic" originally only referred to the "Goths", one of the Germanic tribes that helped destroy Rome. Their now-extinct language, also called Gothic, died out completely... The term has come to be used much more loosely to refer to gloomy or frightening literature.

As you can distinguish from our "Moodboard" above; we reserached different types of images to illustrate just what was going to feature in our "Magazine Advert". We included all the images we felt reinforced the genre and the message we were trying to articulate into a single piece. Ultimately, we incorporated all of the ideas we found whilst researching the "Gothic" genre into an advert and we believe we have successfully conveyed the genre in our work.
