As well as shooting the music video, we also have to perfect a dance routine which will help enhance our video and the "Hip-Hop" genre. Unfortuantely, we aren't great dancers and we can only perform in the Dance Studio at specific times. We are, however, perfecting our routine and it will elevate our piece as it will greatly complement the genre.

Storyboard For Our Music Video (First attempt)
As a group, we had many ideas concerning the content our music video but ultimately agreed on the ones which would most benefit the genre and the music video itself.
Whilst deciding on the content of our video, we took in great consideration "Goodwin's Theory" so that we can create a successful piece. Our main concern and priority of the video was to establish a relationship with the lyrics and the visuals. The song by JLS focuses on a number of things such as girls and cars - we took this into consideration and have decided to include both of these in our video. As well as incorportating these and making sure there is such a relationship with the lyrics and visuals, we will be including a subliminal story that focuses on the affection a female has on the male actors. We believe this will enhance our video as not only will this create a strong relationship between the music and visuals - our audience will be able to relate and recognise the situation. We aim to include intertexual references which is also one of our main focuses so that our audience can again identify with our video.
We will be using a number of "Close-up" shots to help create a representation and publicity of our actors. Whilst our subliminal story is being told, shots will quickly interchange with a dance routine with our actors dressed in bright, noticable clothing. We have researched many music videos from a range of artists to help enhance our video and have the foundation for a successful music video.
Researching The "Gothic" Genre
The word "Gothic" originally only referred to the "Goths", one of the Germanic tribes that helped destroy Rome. Their now-extinct language, also called Gothic, died out completely... The term has come to be used much more loosely to refer to gloomy or frightening literature.
As you can distinguish from our "Moodboard" above; we reserached different types of images to illustrate just what was going to feature in our "Magazine Advert". We included all the images we felt reinforced the genre and the message we were trying to articulate into a single piece. Ultimately, we incorporated all of the ideas we found whilst researching the "Gothic" genre into an advert and we believe we have successfully conveyed the genre in our work.

Practice Magazine Advert - The "Gothic" Genre
Prior to our music video, we had preperations that would enhance our awareness of what was expected. In groups, we had to choose a genre and create a "Magazine Advert" that would show a relationship between the genre whether that was with the visuals illustrating, amplifying or contradicting the genre.
As a group, we decided to choose the "Gothic" genre as we believe it was something we could easily illustrate in an advert within two lessons. As you can see by the image above, our main focus was to amplify the genre and we believe our final piece has successfully illustrated the gothic genre. The participant used in our piece compliments the genre in the way she is positioned, the style of clothes she is wearing, and the general attitute shown by her. "Goths" are usually highlighted as being retreatists to society and rejecting any "mainstream" goals and achievements. They reject the conventional way of society and this is showcased by the way they behave and dress. We have incorporated this idea in our magazine advert in the way that our group member is holding a chair above her head - as if to throw it into the face of society. We have also focused on lightening to enhance the genre, contrasting the background and giving the image a more gothic effect. We have used a lot of dark, black and red colours in our advert as the connotations of black and red is death, blood and danger which we believe illustrates the genre perfectly.
We could have choosen to challenge the archtype of the gothic genre which centres upon the ideological views of death, blood and retreatism - however we believe it was appropriate to instead compliment these views as it was something we thought we could easily achieve. As a conclusion, we feel the final product is successful in our inital intentions and has greatly complimented the genre.

Our Preferred Choices
As a group, we had to choose from a list of songs to base our music video on. In the end, we narrowed our choices down to three which are the following:
Track 2. The Saturdays - Had it with today
This song was our first choice out of the ones available. The song would be an ideal choice, we believe as a group that we can incorproate "Goodwin's Theory" into a successful music video. We believe we can construct the video with links between the visuals, the song plus the artist. One group member has access to dancers - this would enhance our video by complimenting the lyrics and music and the message we're trying to articulate. A few of the locations we have in mind are the dance studio, a street and a carpark - these locations would essentially create a "party" scene which we believe the genre would fit perfectly into.
Track 8. Know how
Track 8 was our second choice which greatly contrasted our first choice. The song would work well by creating contrasting imagery. We believed this type of music fitted perfectly into the "indie" genre. With this song, we could create different scenarios and use vivid colours. We would have all members of the group participating which would be beneficial not only for the quantity of participants in our video, but also because we feel our video would specialise within the "Mise-En-Scene" aspect of the video. We have group members who we believe fit perfectly into the genre and we can come across costumes, props and locations that can easily and quickly reinforce our music video.
Track 11. JLS - PCD
Our last and final choice was track 11 - this song choice would be ideal as "JLS" are very contemporary and our audience could recognise them instantly. We believe we could easily amplify the lyrics of this track so that they relate to the visuals as "Goodwin's Theory" suggests they should - our male members of the group could replicate the members of "JLS" and we can get dancers in around them to compliment and put emphasis on the genre. We believe the genre of "Hip-Hop" would be an excellent choice as there are many aspects of the genre that we could easily incorprate within the time we have. The costumes would be very bright and would aim not to contrast their surroundings as we want to put emphasis on both the artist and the enviroment they're in.
